‘FG’s directive on kerosene will not work without IPMAN’ On June 18, 2011  ·            The eastern zone of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has said the president’s directive to major petroleum products marketers to ensure availability of kerosene failed because independent marketers were not involved.
The chairman, Chief Chukwudi Ezinwa said  this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria yesterday in Enugu.
He said the directive failed because the number of stations owned by major marketers was insufficient to reach the masses in the hinterland.
According to him, stations of major marketers are usually located in the urban areas, making it impossible for the rural dwellers to come all the way to the city to buy.
“There is no way the major marketers can ease off the scarcity of kerosene in this country without involving the independent petroleum marketers.
“You must involve independent petroleum marketers, people who have stations in all the nooks and crannies of the country.â€
