As part of strategies to check fraud during the forthcoming 2011general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC} is to mount Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) in all the polling units in the country.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Cross River State, Mr. Mike Igini, who disclosed this at a one-day interactive meeting between INEC and political party leaders in the South South, stated that INEC is determined to play its part creditably by conducting a free and fair election.

According to Igini, any foul play in any area will lead to cancellation of the election as the cameras will be used to assist in detecting any fraud. The REC assured that every measure will be taken to ensure that ballot boxes are not missing or snatched. He said the use of the CCTV is geared towards checkmating electoral malpractices, such as rigging and snatching of ballot boxes during the election.

“INEC has fine-tuned arrangements to install CCTV cameras in polling booths across the nation for effective monitoring of voting proceeding,â€

This is interesting, but no matter what, those corrupt politicians will always find a way to rig election. I pray God helps Prof. Jega and his boy.

Yes, it can only take the intervention of God. With the way things are at the moment, PDP wants to rule for another 50 years. I don't see how they will achieve that without rigging.
